Seasons change, and so do our top makeup trends. With summers behind us, it’s time to gear up for winter makeup ideas and looks. The cold weather calls for flushed cheeks and freckles. The latest trend to take the Internet by storm is the ‘cold girl’ makeup look. Imagine being out in a snowstorm, now make it high fashion. That’s the cold girl makeup look.
How can you create the ‘cold girl’ makeup look?
What makes this look different from other winter-based makeup trends is a matte base. While everyone opts for a glowy, dewy makeup look for winter, the “cold girl” aesthetic goes the opposite way. To create this makeup look, get yourself a mattifying primer. Follow this with a stick or powder foundation for that extra wintery vibe.
Here is how you can recreate the cold girl look this winter in just three easy steps.
1. Blush Away Your Worries

In our opinion, there can never be enough blush. Use a pink or cool-toned blush for this look. Coral or dark red blushes are more suitable for a summer-based look. Apply blush on the apples of your cheek and then drag it across your nose bridge, forming a connection between the cheeks. This is an easy and foolproof way to get that sun-kissed look without actually burning your skin. You can use your favourite eyebrow pencil or brown eyeshadow to add some faux freckles to your cheeks. This helps get that ‘you’ve been out in the winter sun’ look right.
2. Glitter, Glitter and Glitter

The “cold girl” makeup look is all about silver shimmer and sparkles. Use your favourite silver eyeshadow and place it strategically. Pro tip: add the silver shimmer to the high points of your face. Focus on the tip of your nose, your cheekbones, the arch of your eyebrows and the bridge of your nose. For your eyes go for a more cool toned soft silvery white eyeshadow. This helps get that perfect frosted look for winter. Gently dab the eyeshadow across your eyelid. Use a second glitter eyeshadow in the middle of your eyelid for an extra kick of colour. add some highlight to the inner corners and the lower lash line for an extra dramatic effect.
3. A Hint Of A Lip Tint

The last step before finishing your makeup is adding that slight red lip. Catch that winter flush without the fear of dry or chapped lips. Use a lip tint or lip stain instead of lipstick. Add it to the middle of your lips and pat them together for an ombré effect. For that added glossy effect, use a shimmery or shiny clear lip gloss as a top coat. A lip gloss with a shimmer can help bring your entire look together.
